Why do we eat? Why to humans need to consume food? We have different reasons, and people prioritize those reasons differently.
I eat:
- to survive
- to maximize my performance
- to enjoy taste
- to feel emotionally happy
- etc.
Figure out all the reasons why you eat food.
Then, place them in one of the five levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid.
Notice that there are very basic reasons why we eat, and very heightened ones. But also see how, like the needs, they are dependant on the ones below them.
We need to realize this. This is where people’s paradigms of healthy eating are off. We think we can skip the lower layers of the hierarchy of needs when we are eating and be OK, but the truth is, you cannot. It just takes longer for the effects to happen.
In order to eat for your life, you must start from the bottom up.
