Bijan Sabet: Investing in Lift

bijan:

Earlier this year, towards the end of spring, I found myself in a bit of a funk.

I wasn’t taking good care of myself. I was working like mad. I was eating badly and not connecting very well to the things and people I cared about most. I was gaining weight and focused on the wrong things.

About…

Great story. I’ve hit points like this too (and I’m only 20!), where work has consumed my life in and the quality of my life has suffered. I took on testing some apps to help with things like this, and they failed in the places where this app has succeeded.

Social pressure is by far, the most effective way to get someone to do something. Being super-easy to use is great, and being able to show metrics is also really important, but if I didn’t need my social circles to nag me on, then there’s little chance that I’d need this app in the first place. Think of all the habits you’ve developed. How many of them have you developed solely on your own free will? Chances are, most of them , good or bad, are there because of your social influences.

This app sounds great; I’m particularly excited to see mobile tech and social getting mixed in with mental health, an area in dire need of innovation and recognition. I can’t wait to give it a try.
